Hello and welcome! My name is Sabrina Metivier. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Registered Nurse Specialist in beautiful Central Florida. I have worked professionally in a variety of settings such as inpatient and outpatient health care facilities, Universities, private practice, and not for profit organizations for over 20 years. Throughout my career as a counseling therapist and a Registered Nurse working in behavioral health care, I was afforded the opportunity to work closely with adults of all ages, college students, athletes and professionals. I also had the opportunity to travel and share my knowledge through lectures and workshops. My counseling style is welcoming, warm, interactive but also straightforward and honest. It is my goal to create a genuine relationship that is respectful, caring, direct, and cooperative. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. Collaboratively working together, we will look to discover strategies, tools and solutions that work best to empower you. The therapeutic process looks different for each individual, and my belief is in finding a unique, individualized and wholistic approach for each client. I always meet the client where they are and I provide a non-judgmental safe place where healing and change can occur. We will work together to create a treatment plan specific to your unique personal goals. In my work with clients of various backgrounds and cultures, I do not spend much time processing the past (i.e., childhood experiences, past trauma, etc.). I believe that true healing comes when individuals take active steps in the therapy process and focus on what they can do in their present situation to address their current challenges. I often use Solution Focused Therapy, Person Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy individually or combined to help my clients focus on understanding how their thoughts impact their emotions and their behaviors. I also look at the impact of their lifestyle habits such as diet, nutrition, rest and exercise, all of which affect their mental, emotional and physical health. I have a considerable amount of experience in working with individuals who have problems managing stress and managing their emotions. Additional areas of focus include a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, physical trauma and or emotional abuse, adjustment disorders (moving, new parents, job changes, divorce), new onset healthcare conditions, chronic health care issues, chronic pain, illness and disability, Co-morbidity conditions, and those who are experiencing grief and loss or relationship issues. It takes courage to take the first step towards a change. By reaching out for support and help you have already taken the first step towards improving your life and achieving your goals. I am excited at the possibility of supporting you as you move toward a transformation that can lead to a happier, more fulfilled life. Now that you are ready, let's get to work. I look forward to working with you!

The selection of a psychotherapist is an intensely personal private intimate decision. Therapy is about one thing: focused communication. With the appropriate modification of language, we can think differently. If we think differently, we can change behaviors. And if we consistently change behaviors, they can become long-term, therapeutic, healthy change. Yes, that journey begins with the first step. My journey began last century with graduate school and licensure. Spent many years working with our incarcerated brothers and sisters. Their needs are real and varied. Being on the “outside” doesn’t mean you aren’t still incarcerated. Spent over a dozen years working with a Native American community. So many needs and so little time. A very special time in my life working with all ages, all needs, often through the assistance of an interpreter. From that chapter, I moved into substance abuse eventually becoming clinical director at several programs. Sobriety like therapy is a day-to-day process and there is nothing wrong with that. Perfection is not possible but excellence is attainable! Lastly, as a former first responder, spent over a decade assisting that community with critical incident stress. Actually, earned a doctorate with the research we all generated together. Nothing quite prepares you for that profession and the significant costs it exacts but if you would just like the opportunity to be, in a kind of ministry of presence, that is one of the reasons I am here . . . And for all, sometimes absolutely the best therapy comes from being with someone in a special moment without saying a word. So, how bout it? Even if it is not me, will you continue your search and seek? Why? Because there are some people on this Earth who do not need to meet you, be in a relationship with you, who know without a shadow of a doubt you are special! Unique! You are worthy! And although it may not be fashionable, will tell you are loved! Enjoy your journey and take that step and just maybe our paths will cross. Looking forward to it . . .

Hello, my name is Michael. I have been a License Mental Health Counselor in Florida since 2009 and have been in the mental health field since 2006. I have worked with a wide range of clientele from individuals with several and chronic mental illness to suicidal adolescents to inmates facing life sentences. I wanted to tell you a little story about myself. In 2015, I was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer and treated it with chemotherapy. In 2017, I was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia which I learned was a side effect of this initial chemotherapy. I spent a month in the hospital, only growing worse and nearly meeting my demise. I knew I needed a new approach. I began my journey into naturalistic healing with food, herbs, and life-style changes. I was able to heal myself. This experience changed my life and way I counsel. I now believe that the use of food, herbs, and lifestyle changes help your mood, mind, everything! So, I have been thinking a lot about my counseling style. To be honest, I really don’t have one in particular. I use a collective approach. I use a little CBT, DBT, Motivational Interview, Person First, and even Emotion Code. However, I don’t believe just talk therapy makes someone 'happy'. It is a holistic approach. I encourage clients to mediate, exercise, eat whole food.

  • Flexible scheduling: Sessions that fit around work, family, or school commitments

Finding a therapist near you that accepts insurance

Many people looking for a therapist near me in Florida want to know whether insurance is an option.

Many providers on BetterHelp now accept major insurance carriers in select states. In many states, certain therapists on BetterHelp may be in-network with specific insurance plans. Coverage depends on your plan, provider, and therapist availability.

In today's fast-paced society, mental well-being has become a cornerstone of a fulfilling life. Amid the daily challenges and stressors that can overwhelm even the most resilient individuals, seeking professional guidance often offers a path to clarity and balance. The journey toward improved emotional health involves understanding personal triggers, embracing self-compassion, and developing effective coping strategies. While self-help books and online resources provide valuable information, nothing compares to the personalized support offered by a qualified mental health professional. One-on-one sessions with experienced experts can help uncover the underlying issues contributing to anxiety, depression, or other emotional hurdles. With a careful and empathetic approach, these professionals tailor their advice to suit individual needs, ensuring that each person receives strategies that work best for their unique circumstances. Whether through cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices, or other innovative methods, the aim is to foster resilience and empower individuals to take control of their inner lives. For those living in bustling urban centers, engaging in face-to-face sessions in a welcoming environment can be particularly beneficial. Access to a caring clinician provides not only a safe space to explore difficult emotions but also builds a support network essential for long-term recovery. The process encourages self-reflection and greater insight into behavioral patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed. While the journey can be challenging at times, the rewards include enhanced emotional stability, improved interpersonal relationships, and a renewed sense of self-worth. In one notable case, the guidance provided by a highly trained therapist proved instrumental in navigating a tumultuous period. Through structured sessions and tailored interventions, the individual learned to identify stressors and develop healthier responses to adversity. This experience underscored the transformative impact that dedicated support can have on one's overall quality of life. In a region like Texas, community-based initiatives and accessible mental health programs further reinforce the value of professional help. These efforts emphasize early intervention, preventive care, and continuous support, ensuring that more people are equipped to face life's inevitable challenges. Ultimately, investing in mental well-being is an act of self-care that yields lifelong benefits. By embracing professional support, individuals can unlock new levels of emotional resilience and discover pathways to a brighter, more balanced future. Each step taken toward healing represents a commitment to personal growth, enabling a life filled with renewed optimism and strength. Embracing this transformative journey consistently paves the way for deeper understanding, lasting peace, and meaningful personal progress.
